Duke Nukem was a fantastic 2D side-scrolling platformer that was released for the PC back in 1991. Duke Nukem 2 was released shortly afterward in 1993 and Duke 3 was the first 3D Duke released in 1996. Duke 4 was announced in 1997. Duke 4 is set for release in 2011.
I have written about Duke on this site here before. The last time was June of 2008 (go ahead and check the archive). I won't keep talking about the long hard road it has been but I really did give up hope. I was sure that we would never see it when the company making it went out of business. The rights and property for the project was picked up by another company who realized the brand recognition was too great to just let go.
The game won't be great but it needs to be released. The franchise will get some air breathed into it and we'll see a lot of press coverage I'm sure. We'll probably get some new titles eventually.
When old video game franchises get new air breathed into them, I always get excited. The new Metroid just came out and looks really cool. Megaman's appearance in 8-bit 2D was upsettingly difficult just like the original Megaman games. The new Goldeneye will be great with online play. Why fix something that isn't broken?
Duke's humor is extremely crude and was a big deal back in 1996. I loved the game. In the spirit of keeping this a PG-13 site, I'll just say that the humor is worth it. You may enjoy this first impression.
This is the best video I could find on YouTube as of Saturday night.
Always bet on Duke. You'll hear more about Duke from me as things progress.
Take a look of this Ninja Cat video. Just pay close attention. You'll see it.
Erin and I just finished a very long Monopoly game. I don't want to say the longest because I have played multi-day games before back in California but this one was on the computer. All of the banking is taken care of. It lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. I ended up winning with Erin in second place. We played with two computer players. My total was $11,991 in cash and $12,040 in property. Isn't that crazy? Here's the final screen shot. Click for larger.

Hurricane Earl didn't do anything to us. We were expecting to be inside all day but all we saw was a bit of wind and some cooler temperatures. Nobody planned on being outside this weekend so it probably hurt local businesses.
School is starting back up. I was near the local college campus and there were so many people. I want to say kids instead of people. I'm thinking of college students as kids. I'm married. High school was 11 years ago. I have pills for GERD. Man, I'm an adult now. I hoped that would never happen. I hope I die before I get old. Wait, what? Here are some great awkward first day of school photos. I bet I looked like photo #21. I still feel like photo #21.
Trippy visuals dude!
I'll end with something meaningful. Really. This site is called Makes Me Think. Real or not, these are sweet and nice to read.
Lisa, I can't wait for the cake. California in 10 days!
